Terms and Conditions - Polar Filament 3D Printing Service

Please read these terms and conditions carefully before using Polar Filament's online file uploader for 3D printing services. By accessing or using the service, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you may not use the service.

Overview
1.1. Polar Filament offers an online file uploader service for customers to submit 3D models for printing. These terms and conditions govern the use of the online file uploader and the subsequent 3D printing service provided by Polar Filament.

1.2. All files and prices provided on the Polar Filament website or during the file upload process are estimates and subject to engineering review. The final price and feasibility of printing will be determined after the engineering review is completed.

User Responsibilities
2.1. By using the online file uploader, you warrant that you are the owner of the 3D model file or have obtained the necessary licenses, authorizations, or permissions to upload and print the model.

2.2. You agree not to use the service for any illegal, unauthorized, or infringing purposes. You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of the service complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and intellectual property rights.

2.3. Polar Filament reserves the right to refuse any 3D model file that is deemed inappropriate, infringing, or violates these terms and conditions.

Pricing and Payment
3.1. The prices provided on the Polar Filament website or during the file upload process are estimates and subject to change. The final price will be determined after the engineering review is completed.

3.2. Payment for the 3D printing service must be made in full before the printing process begins. Polar Filament accepts payment through the approved methods specified on the website.

3.3. All payments are non-refundable, except in cases where Polar Filament is unable to complete the 3D printing service due to technical or operational reasons.

Intellectual Property
4.1. You retain all intellectual property rights in the 3D model file uploaded to Polar Filament's online file uploader. However, by using the service, you grant Polar Filament a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to reproduce, modify, and create derivative works of the 3D model solely for the purpose of providing the 3D printing service.

4.2. Polar Filament is not responsible for any infringement of intellectual property rights arising from the 3D model file uploaded and printed through the service. You agree to indemnify and hold Polar Filament harmless from any claims or damages resulting from your use of the service.

Limitation of Liability
5.1. Polar Filament will make reasonable efforts to provide accurate estimates, quality printing, and timely delivery of 3D printed models. However, Polar Filament does not guarantee the accuracy, quality, or timeliness of the service and shall not be held liable for any errors, delays, or damages arising from the use of the service.

5.2. Polar Filament shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or exemplary damages, including but not limited to, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, data, or other intangible losses resulting from the use or inability to use the service.

Modifications to the Service and Terms
6.1. Polar Filament reserves the right to modify or discontinue the online file uploader service at any time without prior notice. Polar Filament shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modifications, suspension, or discontinuation of the service.

6.2. Polar Filament may update these terms and conditions from time to time. The updated version will be posted on the Polar Filament website, and your continued use of the service after the changes will constitute your acceptance of the revised terms and conditions.

Governing Law
7.1. These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the state of Michigan. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these terms and conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the state of Michigan.

Instructions

File Upload
Getting started with our online 3D print service is a breeze. Simply upload your 3D model file, select your desired print settings, and submit the form.

Engineering Review & Payment
After you submit your file, it will be reviewed by an engineer to verify your part can be printed. We'll calculate shipping costs, and then email you an invoice once your part has been approved. Invoices can be paid online with a credit card.

Production
After the invoice is paid we will begin production. We will tell you the estimated completion date, which is highly influenced by the size of your part and how many printers we use to manufacture them. We usually start production within 1 business day of receiving payment.
We use high-quality filament that we make in-house at our manufacturing facility in Troy, MI to ensure the durability and aesthetics of your prints. Once your object is printed, we'll carefully package it and ship it to your doorstep.

About us

Polar Filament is based in Troy, MI. We got our start in the automotive industry, so we have roots in industrial printing. We also make all of our filaments in-house, which really gives us a leg-up when it comes to quality control. We're still a small startup, and the 13 of us here try really hard to make the highest quality filament and 3D prints you'll find in the US.


We launched this online 3D printing quote tool to streamline the process of prototyping. We give pricing without the hassle of back-and-forth emails, which enables us to give faster turnarounds at lower prices. Capabilities

Polar Filament specializes in FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) printing technology. FDM printers use a process where a plastic filament is melted and deposited layer by layer to build up a three-dimensional object. Printers like these can produce a wide range of objects with varying shapes, sizes, and complexities.

Limitations

While FDM printers have numerous advantages, it's important to note their limitations. Very small and intricate details may not come out as well due to the nature of the printing process. For example, printing highly detailed minifigures for tabletop gaming might not yield the best results with FDM technology. Parts larger than 300mm are difficult to print, and our maximum size is 500x500x500mm.
